The Telangana government on Wednesday announced that the state would extend the Deepam scheme to all eligible across the state. Etela Rajender, Finance and Civil Supplies Minister said that the government plans to give 10 Lakh new LPG connections under the scheme in the next financial year.
Explaining about the financial burden of the plan on the state government, Rajender said that each LPG connection would cost Rs. 1,600 and the administration would have to bear a total cost of Rs. 160 Crore.
Responding to a question about reservations to SCs, STs and BCs under the scheme, Etela Rajender said that government set a target of providing a LGP connection to every household in the state in the next few years.
