100 SMEs to go Green in Telangana

Green-in-TelanganaThe Confederation of Indian Industries or CII has taken up the challenge to turn 100 Small and Medium Enterprises green. The plan has been sorted out with the state government.

CII Godrej GBC executive director S Raghupathy said, “The idea is that we will work together, hands on, with 100 SMEs and make them green. When I say green, we mean we will guide them in adopting green manufacturing processes and certify them. It will be a perfect showcase model for the country”. He was addressing the ‘Energy Efficiency Summit 2014’ in Hyderabad.

Addressing the same event, vice-president of CII Naushad Forbes said that the Confederation is broadly engaging with pulp and paper, cement, thermal power and textile sectors to introduce and develop energy efficiency means.

“It is tougher to do … so we are exploring the idea that if we can take some energy intensive cluster and work with local associations, we can then establish a benchmark within the cluster and can diffuse that innovation as well as benefits across the cluster”, said Naushad.
