This year, the nation recorded a rain deficit of 12%.
Though, the rain in September tried to cure the losses somehow, but still the overall percentage of rain in the nation dropped by 12%.
The all India weighted average rainfall in September was 191.5mm, as against a normal of 173.5mm.
Out of the 36 meteorological subdivisions in India, 12 recorded deficient rains while 23 recorded normal rainfall between June and September. Only one subdivision, Interior Karnataka subdivision touched the excess limit.
In terms of states, Haryana had to face the burn more than any other state. Haryana recorded 55% deficit, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 50%.
