14 % tax from race courses

race-coursesGovernment has decided to collect 14 percent tax from race courses as the race course organisers were manipulating to show their lakhs of income in thousands which was found after the commercial taxes
department raided the Malakpet Race Club in October. The Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivasa Yadav discussed the issue with top
brass and found that bookies were evading taxes on the income accrued from horse races. Race course tax arrears are running into crores even
as crores were changing hands through daily racings but the government was not getting its dues from them. The minister has reviewed the situation with top officers of the commercial taxes department and the Act may be amended to set the record straight.
