Mana chertraPersians left an undeletable mark on India as emperor Cyrus crossed the Hindukush mountains and invaded India in 230 BC and then in 336 BC Greeks led by Alexander The Great invaded India at a time when independent kingdoms were flourishing. Even as he was approaching, Takhasila king Ambi surrendered before him but the stiff resistance from king Purushottam sprang a surprise before Alexander. Porus was emboldened by Malavas whose leader Mallu planted a powerful arrow into Alexander’s chest during the war. At the end of it Porus was captured but Alexander was fascinated by the bravery exhibited by the former and returned his kingdom. Greeks’ invasion on the other modified the geography as they introduced several reforms – new trading, rule of law, architecture and it was said that Greek historians provided lot of evidence in support of Indian history.
