2 minutes silence by channels on Nov 2

Telugu-channals-300x193As per the call given by the Press Council of India, nation-wide news channels will observe two minutes silence on November 2, every year to protest against the government’s unconcern over murders of journalists. For the last two decades, 80 newsmen were killed and so far enquiry cases have been kept pending. Victims were mostly from AP and J&K and PCI expressed concern over such attacks. The Press Council has demanded safety to journalists on the lines of ‘vigil blowers’ under RTI and issued a call to observe ‘2 minutes silence in news rooms’ on November 2 every year.
