A group of about 200 developers, technologists, hackers and app developers from Hyderabad will take part in the 0.6 #hack4good, a hackathon against climate change that will be held concurrently in 50 countries worldwide from September 12-14, 2014.
More than 3,000 software experts would build prototypes of technology solutions that address 15 global climate change challenges. The solutions will be designed to the problems set by government organisations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and experts in the field in 48 hours.
The winning teams will get a chance to display their projects at the UN Climate Summit in September.
An application has been designed by a team from Hyderabad that will create mobile network during any disaster.
A judging panel comprising technology leaders and subject experts will select the best teams at each location. The selected teams will present their projects as part of Climate Week alongside the UN Climate Summit in New York in September.
