230 kilos of drugs seized from former IAF officer’s home

drugsThe Narcotics Control Bureau of Bengaluru zone have seized Ampetamine drugs worth Rs 9 crore in the international market- in a rented house of a Indian Air Force Wing Commander with the Information Technology Wing- Mr Rajasekhar- who was recently arrested with the Bengaluru based research scientist and his wife.

In the first week of October, NCB officials had arrested Venkat Ramarao, a Bengaluru based research scientist in Hyderabad and his wife Preethi who were allegedly involved in drug manufacturing was arrested from her residence in Bengaluru and police had seized drugs of 231 kg worth Rs 45 crore. Following to it, Rajashekar Reddy, IAF wing commander was also arrested.

The NCB officials said, “we have busted a clandestine drugs manufacturing and processing lab in Vidyapura, Saineekpuri, Secunderabad and seized 9.1kg of amphetamine. The house was taken on rent by Rajashekar Reddy, one of the accused. Preliminary investigations suggested that the lab was suspected to be used to further process, manufacture and test the contraband. The drugs were prepared in the kitchen room”

The entire lab setup along with its apparatus was dismantled by the NCB hyderabad team in a day long operation in the posh defence locality on October 26. The materials recovered were produced before the sessions court at L B Nagar, Hyderabad on Thursday.

Value of the drugs seized is about 2.5 crore worth in Indian market and about Rs 9 crore in international market. Investigations are being done to know involvement of other persons in it and if the accused have any other labs/processing facilities for the manufacturing of the contraband.
