As many as 28 memoranda of understanding have been arrived at the launch of Telangana’s new IT policy, at HICC, Hyderabad today. The policy was unveiled by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao in the presence of Governor ESL Narasimhan, Infosys mentor Narayana Murthy, a host of CEOs of ITEs, Prof VK Saraswat and others. The MoUs were inked with the T-hub, the start-up incubator of the Telangana state launched recently.
Four policy documents were also launched on the occasion on Innovation and start-ups, rural technology, gaming and animation, electronics, design and manufacturing.
IT minister KT Rama Rao said –‘IT was critical to Telangana and Telangana is critical to the IT industry and to the extension national and global IT industry.
“ When IT sector was opening in mid ninties, Hyderabad was the natural choice. For years together we contend with number two position in IT exports and expansion and the present government has vowed it to make number one state in the country”.
Stating that T-hub was a success with many states replicating the policy, Rama Rao said the state wants to become number one by using the natural advantages and consolidating in the areas of cyber technology, data analytics and electronics and gaming.
“When we say rural, we actually mean rural villages and taking technology and job opportunities to the youth and educated lot there. Warangal and Nizamabad are tier-II cities and we would like to develop T-Hubs there too” he added.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao has asked the IT companies to invest in Telangana in a big way. “We assure you hassle-free, corruption-free clearances in the stipulated period. We have already given clearances to over 1800 industries under the new TS-iPASS policy in just 14 days of their submission of applications. We will do so for the IT sector as well, depending upon the merit of their application” he said.
Narayana Murthy, the mentor of Infosys, said there should be no space for superlatives and boasting. “Humility and humane approach will make way for development” he observed.
Responding to his suggestion, Chief minister Rao said- ‘Telangana government follows the policy of humility from day one and the fact that the companies given clearances in such a short span is an example of this. We made humble beginning 20 months ago and we want to become number one and the humility certainly matters and seriously followed”
Governor ESL Narasimhan said rural areas will flourish only with technology and lauded the efforts of KT Rama Rao in taking the IT policy down to the villages.
