It was a deadly strike by the Paras, the para-commando wing of Indian Army regiment, which penetrated upto three kilometres into the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). In all, 40 militants and two Pakistani soldiers were killed and nine more soldiers suffered serious injuries.
The operation has started around 1:30 am today and ended by 4:30 am itself. The Indian soldiers returned to their bases safely and it is significant that no loss of life has occurred.
Defense Minister Manohar Parikar and the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval have personally monitored the strikes in which seven terror launch pads were destroyed.
Authoritative sources said that India struck with specific intelligence inputs that many terrorists were camping there to infiltrate into Indian territory with the help of Pak army. The para commandos were airdropped near the LoC and they surged forward to inflict a heavy attack. They were carried in Bhimber, Lepa, Hotspring sectors of Pak side.
This is considered as a big retaliatory attack ten days after Uri attack in which 18 Indian jawans were killed by Pak-aided terrorists.- the worst terror attack on Indian camp in 26 years.
