simiOut of the eight SIMI activists who were gunned down in the suburbs of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, three were allegedly involved in bank robbery case in Karimnagar district of Telangana.

Four fugitives have barged into State Bank of India in Choppadandi of Karimnagar district in February 2014 and decamped with 46 lakh cash and some gold ornaments. Another activist who was guarding outside has also escaped that day. Two were shot dead at Janakipuram in Nalgonda district in April 2015. The remaining three were gunned down in Bhopal today.

A case has been still pending in Choppadandi police station on the three ‘encountered’ robberers- viz Zakir Hussain alias Sadiq, Amjad alias Daud alias Omer Shaik, Sheik Mehbub alias Guddu, according to police.

The activists are not locals but might be hailing from Hyderabad, police sources said.

The eight SIMI activists have reportedly escaped from the Central Jail after slitting the throat of a guard, police alleged. NIA probe has been ordered over the encounter, according to Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. I spoke to Union home minister Rajnath Singh and appraised him of the need to order NIA probe and he agreed. In fact, locals were very much helpful to us and basing on their updates our forces zeroed in on the activists. Our forces shall be given a pat for their job” chouhan said.
