uohThe Hyderabad central university, which invited wrath of academic community for its anti-student measures recently, has something to cheer about. It stands at number 8 in India in terms of research output and claimed number one spot in natural sciences.

The rankings were given by the Nature Index (http://www.natureindex.com/)

The Nature Index is a database of author affiliation information collated from research articles published in an independently selected group of 68 high-quality science journals. The database is compiled by Nature Publishing Group (NPG). The Nature Index provides a close to real-time proxy for high-quality research output at the institutional, national and regional level. The Nature Index provides a perspective on high-quality research on the basis of published articles. It is intended to be one of a number of metrics to assess research excellence and institutional performance.

uoh.jpg-2“It is indeed a proud moment for the University of Hyderabad (UoH) to be ranked at number 1 among Universities apart from being the only university in the top 10 as part of the Natureindex survey released recently. The competition is from established scientific research institutes and the IITs which is quite an illustrious list. All research outputs for UoH published between 1 February 2015 – 31 January 2016 are tracked by the Nature Index. An article score of 30, a fractional score of 21.82 with 32.87% Domestic and 67.13% International contributions UoH is number 8 on the list. We are happy on the achievement” the university said in a media release today.

University of Delhi is ranked at 12, Jadavpur University is at 16, JNU at 20 and BHU is at 21.
