Telangana government has been showing interest in the women safety since its formation and it has been proved again. It was the first after Delhi to ban Uber cab services in the state after a woman was raped by the cab driver in the national capital. Andhra Pradesh later followed the move immediately.

Telangana Transport Department on Wednesday also started a crackdown on taxi/cab services which are being operated illegally in the state, and especially in the Hyderabad and Cyberabad zones.

T Raghunath, Joint Transport Commissioner, Hyderabad said, “A thorough verification process is underway to check documents (proper licenses/permits) of cabs/taxis, if they are running their services as per rules and if they have registered with Transport Department or not”.

25 cases have been booked and seven vehicles seized so far under this crackdown.

500 cab services companies have registered with the Transport Department delivering services with 25,000 cabs in Hyderabad and 20,000 cabs in Ranga Reddy district.
