The information technology industry in Hyderabad is expected to gross exports of $50 billion by the year 2025, says NASSCOM or National Association for Software and Services Companies. The city has contributed about 13 per cent to the national IT exports with registered exports of $10 billion, in 2013.
B V R Mohan Reddy, Vice-Chairman of Nasscom and Executive Chairman of Cyient (formerly Infotech Enterprises) said that the IT industry in Hyderabad provides about 4.5 Lakh jobs directly while other 10 Lakh jobs are created indirectly in the sectors that are dependent on the IT and BPO.
The NASSCOM commemorated its 25th anniversary on Friday. A meeting was held with the top executives of the industry, representatives of venture capital firms, policymakers and other stakeholders to recall about the journey and draw strategies for the next 25 years.
“About 200 start-ups have been set up since 2010, with a focus on big data, enterprise solutions and social media, attracting about $30 million worth of investments”, said Mr. Reddy.
