59,000 pensioners in Adilabad district alone were found ineligible based on the data collected in intensive household survey. The officials have also rejected 1.39 Lakh applications on various grounds.
Committees were formed in the district at mandal level to process eligible and ineligible applications. During the process, the officials found that several elder people from wealthy families have also applied for pension. They found some who were not so old too.
Under ‘Asara’ scheme, the state government has announced to pay Rs. 1,500 per month to disabled and Rs. 1,000 to widows and aged in the state.
Previously, 2.60 Lakh people were being benefitted with pension in Adilabad, which has now been sorted to 2.01 Lakh after the survey. The government had announced to apply freshly to receive pension. 3.40 Lakh applications were received, of which 1.39 Lakh applications have been rejected.
