Telangana State government had sanctioned 600 vehicles for the police department in order to make police more responsive, professional and mobile to help the citizens. Anurag Sharma Director General of Police said “This addition of new fleet will enable the department to provide individual vehicles to every police station in the State. The police will now be able to respond more quickly and adequately to any situation warranting their attention and intervention.”
After creation of the new State, this is the third large-scale addition to the State police mobile fleet. On August 14 last year Chief Minister launched the first fleet of the police patrolling vehicles (SUVs and Motorcycles) for police commissionerates of Hyderabad and Cyberabad. On September 26, the fleet of interceptor vehicles for armed intervention in the metropolitan area of the State police launched.
