70% of Metro Rail works completed

metro-railStating that the works of Metro Rail have been on fast track, the Managing Director NVS Reddy said nearly 70 per cent of works have already been completed and the remaining are taken up in phases. “Foundation has been laid in 60 kilometre length and pillars were already erected in 57 kilometre distance and have to be erected in another nine kilometre stretch” he said. “We are discussing some issues with Railways and hopefully it will be sorted out. The stations at MGBS and Ameerpet are very important. Delay has been occurred due to various court cases. We have already won over200 cases and fighting some more. Some people have apprehensions and we are trying to allay their fears” Mr Reddy explained. He said L&T has already been paid Rs 11,500 crore out of a total project expenditure of Rs 20,000 crore. We are spending Rs 15 crore for laying roads in metro corridors. It is absolutely not true that we are resorting to felling of trees for the project. Our top priority is to protect environment” Mr Reddy stated.
