A tribute to Son of India

15450kalamMost pragmatic President of India Dr Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam came from a common family in Rameshwaram but rose to occupy the highest office of the country. His contribution, dynamism, hard work, unassuming personality even while he was living in the Rashtrapati Bhavan is worth emulating. Aeronautical Engineering from Madras Institute of Technology was his speciality and thereafter he never looked back to serve his motherland in various capacities and became the darling of the youth. He asked them to study politics also as the subject almost became untouchable for obvious reasons. His contribution to India’s first indigenous Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-III) sending Rohini satellite into the earth’s orbit was historic as he lifted his country to be an exclusive member of Space Club and later a nuclear State. ISRO’s launch vehicle, PSLV configuration was his brain child. More than that he was titled “ The Missile Man “ after producing indigenous guided missiles at DRDO, catalyzing AGNI, PRITHVI and for indigenous critical technologies. Pokhran-II n-tests entailed India a nuclear weapon State. Light Combat Aircraft was another piece from his brain power. He achieved Technology Vision 2020, a road map for transforming India to a developed nation. He had a checkered career not forgetting teaching and a mission to induce the young minds by meeting high school students across the country. He received a string of awards – Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and Bharat Ratna .His books “Wings of Fire”, “India 2020 – A Vision for the New Millennium”, “My journey” and “Ignited Minds – Unleashing the power within India” are household names. A scientific salute to him.
