It is a less known fact that current Bollywood heartthrob, Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan is related to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, independent India’s first education minister.
Maulana Azad is also known as the most liberal Muslim of his times. Aamir Khan said that Maulana might have played an indirect role in him being in the film industry today. As it happened, Maulana encouraged Aamir’s uncle Naseer Khan to pursue his desire to work in the films, and without Naseer Khan in films, Aamir’s father, and Aamir himself might not have been in films at all.
Aamir also said that it is one of his long held dreams that he make a film on his relative’s life. Maulana always upheld the importance of education and Aamir’s much appreciated film, “3 Idiots” gives the same message, Aamir said. Aamir Khan was inaugurating the Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival in Kolkata yesterday.
Aamir has already played historical characters earlier in films like “Rang De Basanti” and “Mangal Pandey”.
