AAP leader, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is planning to meet the Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung to discuss the validity of the Jan Lokpal Bill. The move comes in the backdrop of Solicitor General Mohan Parasharan’s letter to Governor calling the bill ‘Unconstitutional.’ The Solicitor General has also insisted that the approval of Governor is a ‘must’ before the Delhi government considers any decisions on their version of Lokpal bill.
AAP’s partner Congress is also opposing the Delhi government on this.
AAP member Ashutosh reacting to this, said, “We are well within our rights to pass the Jan Lokpal. This seems like a conspiracy against AAP. L-G needs to work for Delhi not Congress. How has the discussion between L-G and Solicitor, which is confidential, been leaked? They need to answer that,” Ashutosh said.
Solicitor’s contention is that while the Lok Ayukta bill that has been in force since last year, a Lokpal Bill in Delhi will be repugnant to the central law. Hence the need for President’s approval.
Mean while, Kejriwal has been issued notices by the Supreme Court based on defamation suites filed by few leaders figured in AAP’s list of corrupt politicians.
