The national president Amit Shah, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan and the party general secretary JP Nadda have been picked to the elite decision making body, Parliamentary Board, of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party while The veterans former Deputy prime minister of India, Lal Krishna Advani and former Union minister Murli Manohar Joshi have been removed from the panel.
The two senior leaders of the party will now be called as ‘Marg-Darshaks’ of BJP along with former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, current Prime minister Narendra Modi and union home minister Rajnath Singh, making ‘Marg Darshak Mandal’.
The party informed the decisions today. The move came as a significant blow to the front-line leaders of the saffron party, who lead the party since its day of formation. The reason came as both the leaders are over 75 years now.
Mr Advani had been under continuous setback in the party since he objected on projection of Narendra Modi as the PM candidate. His loyalists’ demand to make him the speaker of Lok Sabha was also overruled.
Explaining the move, a senior party leader said, “When a generational shift has taken place and when need for accommodating fresh energy and ideas has finally been recognized, we need to make room for others who are more in tune with the requirements of the changed times”.
