The protests against Modi are gaining momentum and huge demonstrations are expected on Sunday.
The Indian-American community has planned a grand reception for Modi at Madison Square and the protestors plan to hold a press conference against Modi outside the Madison Square.
“It is a cause for great alarm that a man with his track record has become a head of state. We have to take a stand for what is right”, said an Indian-origin human rights lawyer in US.
The protestors hold Modi responsible for not stopping the communal riots in Gujarat in 2002, which left more than 2,000 people die. They alleged that the incidence was more a planned pogrom against Muslims than a communal riot.
Earlier, a Federal Court in US had issued summons against Modi.
