The official high alert has been sounded in Vadodra and its surrounding areas as the famous Sardar Sarovar Dam has crossed its capacity limits and overflown after heavy rains in the areas. Reportedly, many low lying areas have been flooded.
Rescue work is carried on despite the situation is harsh.
The people who are being rescued are provided shelter in government schools and other safe places. About 10,000 people have been displaced in the last 24 hours.
The Vishwamitri River is flowing above the danger mark. Most of the people who have been displaced are from the villages of Savli, Dabhoi and Waghodiya talukas. The rescue teams are providing essential food and water along with medicines to the flood affected people.
