The by-election to Allagadda assembly seat in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh was slated to November 8 but the result has come immediately after the time to withdraw nominations was completed on Friday. Akhila Priya, daughter of late MLA Shobha Nagireddy has been elected as MLA unanimously after the two opposite independent candidates have withdrawn their nominations.
The official declaration by the Election Commission would come later on Friday declaring the 26-year-old MBA graduate as a winner unanimously.
Shobhanagi Reddy was elected to assembly posthumously. On April 24, she met a road accident that claimed her life and the general elections and assembly polls were held on May 7. The people of Allagadda preferred to vote in favour of their demised leader and no-more candidate won the seat with a majority of more than 10,000 votes.
