The state government of Telangana has decided to implement the recommendations made by a high-level committee on resuming the work of Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project. The committee has supported the demand of the contractor to escalate the price as the prices of steel, cement and fuel increased invariably.
CM KCR claimed to complete the project within three years. A meeting was held at the Assembly Committee Hall-1 on Thursday which was attended by the representatives of all parties besides MLAs and MPs belonging to Nalgonda distric and the irrigation department officials. KCR released orders to the administration to take steps to resume the work on the project immediately.
A meeting of the officials has been fixed on Friday with the contractor JP Associates.
The proposed 44km tunnel, of which almost half of the drilling work was complete, stopped resuming by the contractor citing price escalation.
