The Centre achieved political consensus on the surgical strikes that were carried out in the wee hours of Thursday. At an all party meet conducted at North Block this evening, leaders of frontline political parties have offered their full support to India. They appreciated the armed forces for the strike and said it is very much necessary to put a check to cross border terrorism.
The Home Minister who chaired the meeting informed about the strikes and told them that Indian troops have crossed LoC to annihilate terrorists. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and DGMO Ranvir Singh have briefed the leaders on the strikes. LoC cannot be a barrier for our fight against terrorism, they said.
Sushma Swaraj, MEA, has briefed Sonia Gandhi separately before the start of the meet over the situation that has arisen after the Uri attack and also the need of surgical strikes. Sonia said her party would fully back the government any decision regarding the security of the nation.
Sharad Pawar, Sharad Yadav, Sitaram Yechury, Ram vilas paswan, CM Ramesh, leaders from Shiv Sena, TMC and other parties have attended the meeting.
