Bharatiya Mahila Bank, the only all woman bank chain has announced that it will put up 55 more branches across the country by the next financial year.
“We are going to touch a mark of 25 branches by end of this financial year, while for the ensuing FY, the target is to have 55 additional branches in the two-tier and unbanked cities,” BMB’s Chairperson and Managing Director Usha Ananthasubramanian told reporters. She was in Panaji to inaugurate the 14th branch of the bank.
Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh and UP Chair Person Sonia Gandhi had inaugurated the first branch of the chain on the 9th of November last year in Mumbai. The bank accepts deposits, accounts from all, but the lending will be focused to women. The group has already tied up with Tata Motors for vehicle finance. It has also made provisions for educational finances to girl students. It has plans further to enter Insurance sector, the CMD revealed.
