The ally of the NDA government in Center, Shiv Sena has put some serious questions to BJP over it’s almost silent, cover up attitude with regard to questioning the recent Vaidk- Saeed meet controversy. Calling Vaidik’s actions “sedition,” Uddhav Thackerey asked whether BJP would have been equally silent if such an incident occurred during Congress governance.
In an editorial piece in party mouthpiece “Saamna,” Uddhav wrote: “It is a question of the national security. If such journalists are left free, tomorrow they will go and eat biryani with Dawood, Tiger Memon and Saeed.” Uddhav took strong objections to Vaidik’s open proposals for Kashmir, “Kashmir is like the head of the nation, a place of pride, any issues with regard to it are crucial to Nation’s integrity,” he wrote.
He expressed surprise over BJP’s muted response to the issue. “Though the government clarified that it had nothing to do with it, it should not raise hands. If today, it had been the Congress government at the Center and if some journalist had met Dawood Ibrahim or Hafiz Saeed, the BJP and its alliances would have asked them to clarify the issue. The government can’t just give clarifications, saying it had nothing to do with the Vaidik-Saeed meet. After all, it is a question of national security.”
Meanwhile, Vaidik replied that Shiv Sena’s opinions on the issue are ill informed: “Shiv Sena people have misunderstood my views. If they see the full interview (with Dawn News) then they will garland me,” he declared.
