Public unions today expressed dissatisfaction and displeasure over construction of AP capital at Amaravathi in Guntur district. They are demanding the contents of the master plan which was handed over to the AP government. Earlier, government went on boasful line stating that it would be on top of all constructions in India. Even as the AP government was going ahead with the corner stone function on July 6, they questioned as to why the Singapore committee did not spell out the farmers’ welfare or discuss their problems when details of land, roads and infrastructure were talked about for the new capital.
They criticised that there were no works in the top level commensurate with the master plan. Further, the plan itself eludes details of a full configuration. The government has no determination about the central objective, they said. Public leaders pointed out that the said committee discussed at length on corridors, industrial townships, rivers, tourist centres but failed to consider the welfare or sacrifices made by the farmers who had given their lands for the new capital. Farmers expressed their discontent, they said.
