The online retail major and cloud services provider Amazon has been working on a hardware application, a revolutionary 3D phone over several years and it will be finally unveiled today by the company boss Jeff Bezos in Seattle.
Four infrared cameras place on the corners of the phone will give it a holographic 3D interface. The image could be of 4.7 inch size with a relatively smaller, 720p HD resolution. The tiled menu could be operated from above the surface without the need to touch the phone. It is rumored to have Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB Ram, and a customized android OS similar to the Amazon Kindle Fire tablets. AT&T will exclusively market the phone in US, as per several reports.
Developed at Lab126, the secretive R&D division of Amazon, the phone was code named Tyto in the beginning. Amazon would have to focus on emerging markets like India, Vietnam, Brazil and China to really challenge the Apple, Samsung offerings in the arena, felt industry watchers. What the exact use of the feature is another detail yet to emerge.
