The ruling TDP government has identified Vijayawada region for the new capital. In its plan the government has approached the farmers for land pooling for the formation of the new capital city. The approach of TDP has received a mixed response. The Villages on the right bank of river Krishna are completely against the governments proposal.
The Villages like Rayapudi, Uddandarayunipalem, Malkapuram, Mandadam, and Tallayapalem have strongly objected the Governments plans. They claim, their villages are green almost 345 days a year, they cultivate for almost 11 months, 47 different crops are grown. This is possible as there is perennial availability of water. All these factors make these villages self sufficient. Even for leasing they easily get Rs 1 Lakh.
Now if the government is not able to understand the agricultural importance of the reason how could the Government think about the welfare of the farmers. Secondly how could the Government decide upon such a low price of Rs 25000 per acre. Final nail on the coffin is the losing faith on the government, which has not yet come up with its promise of loan waiver for the farmers. Local TDP Strongman, ridiculed the government by saying, ” How can the CM generate revenue to develop our lands when he cannot do so for loan waiver”.
