Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu has indicated that the government would soon declare the excise policy incorporating the measure for taking over liquor shops. The CM was speaking to media on his two-day visit to the capital.
He hinted, on the note of Tamil Nadu, AP government is considering to take over all liquor shop across the state in order to ensure quality.
“We are coming out with a new excise policy. We are looking at the Tamil Nadu model where the government owns all liquor shops. We also want to emulate the model. We want to have only government liquor shops across Andhra Pradesh. We have abolished illegal shops that sell liquor. Now we are looking at taking over liquor shops”, Said Mr Naidu.
Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation owns all liquor shops in the state and had a monopoly over wholesale and retail vending of liquor, since 2003.
