AP hit by Heavy Rains; Water Level Reaches Danger Point

apThe untimely heavy rain in Andhra Pradesh has raised the problems of the locals after they were hit by the devastating Hudhud cyclone just two weeks ago. The water level in almost all the projects increases till danger levels. 18 gates of Tungabhadra dam was opened to release water to the Srisailam project. 9 gates of Pulichintala project were also opened to release water into Prakasam barrage.

The Krishna and Guntur district are hit this time by rains as many of the low-lying areas in the district have been submerged. The similar situation was seen in Prakasam and Kadapa district too. The highest rain was recorded in Udayagiri of Nellore district with 214.2 mm.

Many areas of Rayalaseema have witnessed heavy rainfall while major parts of the region were poured with medium rainfall.
