AP, TS clash at RMB

2014-10-30_182318_waterBoth the States complained against each other at the river management board. At the river management board meeting held in New Delhi, the AP government objected to TS government constructing the Pattiseema project without obtaining permissions.  AP also objected to TS schemes to build Palamoor and Dindi lift projects. They discussed the use of water in the coming rabi and kharif seasons. The board decided to continue the allocation of Krishna water to AP ( 512 tmc ) and TS ( 299 tmc ) as per Bachawat tribunal. The Prakasam barrage water allotment is 181 tmc but 30 tmc will be saved with the canal modernization. The TS demanded hat the 30 tmc should be diverted to other projects.  However, AP opposed it saying that the canals were yet to be modernized. So the board decided to appoint a panel with officers of two States to avoid disputes. They also discussed function of river management board and operation protocol. The board has decided to meet again as a consensus could not be reached between the two States. Principal secretary, irrigation, S P Joshi, water resources advisor Vidyasagar Rao and chief engineers of both States attended the meeting.
