Apple and Sony to join hands?

According to reports in Japanese media, Sony and Apple are in discussions on a possible joint venture in mobiles. They are planning to launch a new iPhone later this year, which will have many camera components from Sony.

Sony is already supplying the CMOS sensors in iPhones. The Sony camera equipment is mostly favored in higher pixel rate cameras and to take images in low light conditions. Present iPhone 5s is fitted with Sony sensors and has been getting good reviews. Apparently, Apple asked Sony to buy a Japanese camera chip-making company on its behalf which might be used in the collaboration between the companies later.

Sony recently sold its Vaio range of computers and this deal can give it back its lost image as a high end tech major.
