An army officer was found to be trapped in a Pakistani female agent’s bait and to have passed crucial information regarding Indian defence troops. This incident created stir in the intelligence wing. Conformation on the kind of information revealed is yet to come out.
Police in coordination with military authorities have arrested Patan Kumar Poddar, Naik Subedar of the Artillery, who was earlier reported as a candidate of the EME Unit in Secunderabad, and have produced him in the court which sent him to judicial custody for 14 days.
By sending nude photos and videos using social networking sites, the Pakistani female agent, known as Anushka Agarwal tried to get crucial information regarding Indian troops and phone numbers of various defence officers from the arrested officer. Counter intelligence officers traced the messages coming from Pakistan to Hyderabad since six months and brought the investigation to the logical conclusion.
Patan Kumar was arrested by Hyderabad Police on Wednesday on charges of disclosing military secrets. Police say that the officer was also involved in network marketing business for a company named ‘Secured Life’. Police booked him under the Official Secrets Act and also under the Prize Chits Money Circulation Banning Act, 1977.
The police have seized Rs 3 Lakh from his bank accounts. Efforts are on to identify others involved in the case.
