Telangana government has inked a pact with automobile giant Ashok Leyland today paving the way for setting up a body-building unit by the latter in the state. Ashok Leyland will develop this unit in phases which would create 1000 jobs directly and another 500 jobs indirectly. Additional secretary in Chief Minister’s office Shanti Kumari and MD of Ashok Leyland Vinod K Dasari have exchanged the MoU in the presence of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao, KT Rama Rao and G Jagadish Reddy, ministers.
The Chief ministers said the body building of TS RTC busses will be built locally hereafter. “All GHMC vehicles will be purchased locally. Telangana has 45 per cent of urban area and the public transport system should be strengthened. We have decided to encourage local industries” he promised.
“The government will encourage infra and productive sectors in a big way and through TSiPASS, all permissions will be issued in just 15 days. There is a lot of scope for the public transport system to develop as lakhs of people would travel from Hyderabad to the districts” Mr Rao said.
