Assault case registered against Saif Ali Khan complets pre-trial formalities

saifToday a local court completed its pre-trial formalities in the 2012 assault case registered against actor Saif Ali Khan and his two friends.

Wajid Sheikh the public prosecutor said, “The (metropolitan) court today gave a copy of the CCTV footage of the assault incident to the accused after their lawyers had made an application. The first witness is likely to depose in November”.

On February 22, 2012 Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan and his two friends had been arrested. After a businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma filed a complaint after an alleged fight at the Wasabi Restaurant inside Taj Hotel in Colaba. They were released later on bail.

The court had framed charges against the trio on March 13.

At the time of the incident, Saif was accompanied by his wife Kareena, her sister Karishma Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Malaika Arora Khan and some male friends.

As per the police, when Sharma protested the rough chatter of Saif and his friends, the actor punched Sharma in the nose and fractured it.

On the other hand Saif said that, Sharma used abusive language against the women accompanying him, which led to the ruckus.

on December 21, 2012 police had filed the charge sheet.
