Moving against the five-decade-old tradition of sitting 5 hours a day in assembly, the Telangana government has decided to cut off the daily business time to three and a half hours. The Assembly and Council will work for three and a half hours every day, starting at 10:00 am and closing at 01:30, and the legislatures will also get a tea-break of 15 minutes within the duration.
There was a trend in the country for all the legislative assemblies to sit for 5 hours while the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha sits for six hours every day during the session.
The decision to cut off the assembly business timings came in a meeting of Business Advisory Committee in which Chief Minister K Chandrasekhra Rao was also present.
Andhra Pradesh government had worked for 5 hours in their concluded assembly session.
