Assets: Women’s rights after 2005

The supreme court gave a sensational verdict declaring that daughters
are not entitled to any right in the assets owned by their father if
he died prior to 2005 as per the amendment made in the Hindu
Inheritance Act of 1956. A bench consisting of two judges Justice A R
Dave and Justice Adhars K Goyal delivered the decree. Women will
forego the right in case the property was divided prior to December
20, 2004. But the undivided Andhra Pradesh provided a share to women
in father’s property from 1984 onwards.
