Ban on Gaming, Drugs, Sleaze: New Year

Ban-on-gaming,-drugsAt star hotels, pubs and farm houses are strictly ruled on eve on New Year celebrations to wind up the celebrations by 1 am by the city police. Special permissions need to be taken for DJs.

Strict rules have been imposed since there was accusation that some of the star hotels and resorts were encouraging illegal activities like hookah smoking, consumption of drugs etc.

The cops conducted a meeting with the representatives of establishments, in which they sought compliance with rules and regulations.

The police warned that activities falling under the insight of the AP Gaming Act 1974 should not be organised. Crude dances/acts or films are also banned on New Year.

The Cyberabad police said “Use of firearms is strictly prohibited at the venues and the organisers are instructed to install CCTVs, door- frame metal detectors and hand-held metal detectors on the premises.”

“Only couples, who are registered members and their acquaintances, are permitted inside party venues. No single person, male or female, shall be allowed to enter the venues,” the release said.

Hyderabad police commissioner too appealed to the common public to not believe any rumours, and if they spot any suspicious element in their vicinity they should inform the police by using Dial 100 services.

The Hyderabad traffic police is planning to close all the flyovers in the city on the night of December 31. Traffic DCP A.V. Raghunath said

“To avoid any mischief from the flyovers and as a safety measure, every year flyovers are closed on December 31 nights. Twenty teams will take part in a special drive against drunken driving on December 31. If people are found drunk driving even after 1 am or 2 am, then we will also find out which establishment had sold them liquor beyond the time limit and book them as well.”
