Bankers Threaten to Commit Suicide if Farmers don’t Pay the Loan

Untitled-5Kuna Ravi is the manager at the State Bank of India’s Aspari branch in Kurnool district. His branch of bank witnessed a huge protest by the farmers on Monday demanding not to sell the mortgaged loan for non-payment of the loans. Addressing to the protestors, the bank manager said, “We too have to commit suicide if the farmers did not pay back their loans till now”.

He further said that the higher officials of the bank are pressurizing them to auction the gold to recover the loan. He said that the Chief Minister Chandrababhu Naidu has not given any clarity on the loan waiver till now.

The bank had earlier served the notices to all the loan defaulters saying their gold would be auctioned soon, as a result of the non-repay of loan.

The protesting farmers also demanded the CM to fulfill all the poll promises he had made and clear the loan waiver issue soon.
