On Saturday alleging that CM KCR did not fulfil the poll promise of sanctioning Rs 1,000 monthly pension for Beedi workers. They have organised the rally under the aegis of CPM-affiliated Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) from Government Junior College grounds to the office of Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) and submitted a tickler to the RDO.
CITU state leader Siddi Ramulu said that the Telangana government did injustice to beedi workers without making allocations in the budget spoke on this occasion.The CITU leader said budget allocations were made to the aged, physically-challenged, widows, weavers and toddy tappers.
Siddi Ramulu asked the CM, who had conducted a survey in a day, to conduct a survey to count number of beedi worker families and fulfill his election promise. He dubious that beedi-making units were running for only 10 days in a month and owners of units are exploiting the hard work of beedi workers.
The CITU leader asked the State govt to render election promise of sanctioning monthly pension and resolve other issues. He cautioned the Government that protests would be intensified protests if the State government fails to address the problems of beedi workers.
