On Tuesday, many BJP activists were arrested including leaders like B Dattatreya, MP, Telangana unit president G Kishan Reddy and Dr K Laxman, MLA. They were arrested when they demonstrated before collectorates in Warangal, Hyderabad and Nalgonda against power cuts. The activist demanded power supply to farmers for seven hours. As the activists, including Dattatreya, were taken into custody after they attempted to lay siege to the collectorate, mild tension prevailed in Warangal. They took out a massive rally from Ekasila Park earlier.
A Ashok Reddy the Party district president, City president Ch Sunil, Sriramulu and S Jaipal the former MLAs, Ch Janga Reddy the former MP, and leaders T Rajeshwara Rao, Rau Padma took part in the demonstration.
They were taken to Subedari police station. While speaking to the reporters, the leaders condemned the arrest, saying they were just holding a peaceful protest.
At Ekasila Park while addressing the party workers Dattatreya promised to take up with Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh the purchase of cotton by CCI with higher moisture content.
