BJP, in an attempt to justify its decision to appoint controversial Yogi as star campaigner, on Wednesday, said that Adityanath has been picked to campaign in by-polls after much deliberation within the party.
Speaking during a panel discussion on a TV news channel, BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said “It was done after much deliberation”.
“Was this secularism? Rahul Gandhi had quoted Wikileaks saying Hindu terror is dangerous for country. If the former Prime Minister, Home Minister and Rahul Gandhi can say all this and one draws a comparison of that to what Yogi Adityanath said, then I do not have any issue,” said Trivedi.
Adityanath had recently said riots happen wherever Muslims are more than 10 percent in numbers. He also said that there is no place for Non-Muslims wherever there are more than 35% Muslims.
Mr Trivedi tried to justify Yogi’s remarks saying that the MP had said this in special context or situation, one cannot take it in the national context.
