Dr Wilfred Mesquita, Goa BJP leader said that consuming liquor is a part of the state’s culture and he dismissed any possibility moving in the line of Kerala which is ahead towards ban sale and consumption of liquor in a phased approach.
Mr. Mesquita said while responding to a query during a press conference, “The law cannot come to Goa. Goans drink at wedding and parties. How can it be banned?”
Sudhin Dhavalikar, the minister in Goa government said the other day that pubs are not part of Goa’s culture and that they should be banned.
Union Minister of State for Tourism, Shripad Naik also nodded in favour of Mr Dhavalikar, stressing on the culture of Goa to be controlled.
BJP’s women’s wing also made statement against the growing pub culture in the country.
