BJP stalls T Bill over amendments

The Telangana bill was scheduled to be placed in Rajya sabha today. It was notified in the list of business, lots of commotion took place in the upper house over the bill. The house saw several adjournments. Several Congress and TDP members continued with their protests in the house against the bill. BJP too registered its protests and stuck to its demand of amending the bill. But as per Parliamentary procedure, the will have to go back to Lok Sabha if any amendments to it are passed in the upper house. Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh, who is also the member of Rajya Sabha had a meeting with BJP top leaders and tried to convince them from asking for any amendments. Arun Jaitley, Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Ravi Shankar Prasad were part of the BJP team which met the PM.

Apparently BJP is refusing to budge from its stand and is fixed about introducing at least one amendment to the contentious bill. Over the impasse, the bill presently is not put up in Rajya Sabha and the session is postponed to tomorrow 11 am. BJP and PM meeting is still going on at the time of writing this piece.
