The Congress has continued attacking the ruling party on the issue of increasing communal violence in India. After Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge took the charge today. Mr. Kharge made the statement in the Pariament, “Why have there been so many riots in the past 2-3 months? Who is behind these incidents?”
Mallikarjun Kharge said his party has been pressing for a debate on communal violence but due to various other issues on the agenda, importance is not been given to their demand.
He added, “If you are in power, it doesn’t mean you try to suppress people or incite people”.
Mr. Kharge made another remark that may rise the political tense between the two parties. “We talk of unity, you talk of dividing society,” he added.
Kharge said his party has all the trust in the Speaker and it was not accusing her of bias but Congress members were merely seeking its protection on the issue.
