A rift between the saffron party and TDP is likely to emerge due to the ensuing MLC elections. The Floor crossing by the Desam MLAs to the ruling party has made matters worse than before. So far four legislators out of 15 ( elected with BJP alliance ) have jumped on to the bandwagon of TRS. Now the BJP leaders are in a dilemma whether to support the TDP candidate for MLC post. Out of six places, four would go to the ruling party and one each for Congress and Desam. In case the TRS craves for the fifth seat, the TDP shall be in trouble.
The support from BJP is a must for TDP candidate. But BJP circles are sore that TD legislators were running after the ruling party. That is the problem for both BJP and TDP. To support its ally in 2014 elections or not is the million dollar question. Saffron and desam travelled a long distance together. When and how the TDP leader will leave the cycle and run after the pink party is the issue. On the whole friendship that lasted till graduates elections may face a snag in future. The election commission is expected to issue notification on May 14, for six MLC polls. BJP has planned to seek MLA quota and is likely to put a proposal before the TDP. In the wake of TD leaders entering the TRS camp, the BJP wants the MLC seat also. This may result in a set-back to the TDP men. BJP has reason to ask TDP whether their men would stay back or leave for the ruling party. The TRS attraction seems to be worrying both saffron men and cycle men.
