Blind girl is IFS officer

BlindUnion Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances Jitendra Singh has felicitated Beno Zephine from Tamil Nadu, who has made history as a visually challenged candidate joining the Indian Foreign Service. Singh recalled that the DoPT faced a peculiar case of Beno despite her visually challenged condition made it to the merit list of civil services exam by securing 343 rank. She was keen on joining IFS notwithstanding the constraints of rules. Singh said he was impressed by her confidence and determination. Beno Zephine’s determination inspired the minister to follow up her case and find a way to accommodate her in a suitable slot. Zephine’s appointment has enriched the civil services and it was a matter of pride for millions of civil services aspirants. Zephine said that she was overwhelmed by the positive attitude of the Central minister, who pursued her case. She also thanked the DoPT. She wants to start her new appointment with the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
